Hi, we're Codex Anatomicus!
Founded by Dana & Michael, we are an independent, family and friends-run creative business. We launched Codex Anatomicus in 2017 to reflect the artistic beauty of human anatomy and to make the process of learning medicine more fun. We are experimenting with various artistic styles because anatomy has a creative side, and we want to prove it! Today, our art prints decorate homes, clinics, and medical offices across the globe, and we couldn't be more proud and excited 😍
Our Story
Back in 2017, we were hunting for unique Christmas gifts for our medical friends and family (particularly creative anatomy charts), and we hit a wall. They were either strictly clinical or novelty gear. Wanting something special, we got crafty and designed our own medical collages - blending precise anatomical detail with art. Our community encouraged us to try selling them, and what started as a fun Etsy experiment quickly exceeded our expectations as the medical community fell in love with what we were creating! The overwhelming response led to the birth of Codex Anatomicus. Today, we’re proud to help people around the world showcase their passion for medicine, all while remaining what we’ve always been at heart: a small family business showing the beauty of anatomy through an artistic lens.

Unlike typical posters printed in bulk on thin paper with low-quality inks, each art print is individually made to order using thick 230g matte acid-free art paper with a velvety, non-glare finish. We use archival inks for especially vibrant colors - they are also fade-resistant and last for decades. We strive to create long-lasting decor that looks and feels premium without costing the planet
